Ajmer Sharif

Ajmer Sharif Ajmer is blessed with the Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti. Since the Dargah lies in Ajmer city in Rajasthan, it is often referred to as Ajmer Sahrif. It is not a sacred place for Muslims only; it is rather a multi-ethnic pilgrimage. Devotees following different religions come to Ajmer Sharif to offer homage to the holy saint.

Hazrat Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti was a messenger of God who spread the message of Love, Peace and Brotherhood. He supported, "Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth stands clear from error; whoever rejects evil or believes in Allah (Almighty) hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold that never breaks" (Quran 2; 256).

Ajmer Sharif Dargah Sharif at the foot of a barren hill was the last resting place of the holy saint Chishti who died in 1235. There an endless flow of visitors of all religions at saint's marble domed mausoleum comprising of the the sick and the troubled seeking a blessing and peace of mind. Besides the common people, the great kings of India have paid homage to this great Muslim saint and have sought his miraculous aid to solve their problems.

The rich endowments and marvelous buildings dedicated to the Dargah Sharif are living examples of the privilege it have has enjoying in the heart the people of India over the past 750 years. Within the Ajmer Dargah Sharif precincts lies a marvelously constructed mosque. This magnificent architectural splendor in white marble was built by no other but the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal. This mosque in white marble at Dargah Sahrif is embellished with delicate carvings, trelliswork and calligraphic inscriptions.

Best time to visit Ajmer Sharif in the month of May when an annual pilgrimage or Urs is celebrated. Millions of devotees come from far and near to Ajmer to pay homage at Dargah Sharif Ajmer Rajasthan.
